Limitations
Generally, the limitations of the project can be represented by a few factors which are human-related, budget, technology and legal (Izzatty et al., 2011).
1. DEFINITION OF HIS
Moving from paper-based system to digital would still be frown upon by many practitioners, especially the older generations
As older generations may not be keen on changes or be willing to use the technology because of personal ignorance and refusal to adapt, attending the training on the use of EHR, but not reaping any benefits would also incur losses, especially to the employers.
It would be difficult to convince end users to adopt the usage of the proposed technology, hence leading to the next limitation on the cost, which other than requiring higher cost for training the manpower needed, costs on the setup, additional hardware, cost on training the older generations to use the proposed solution, and maintenance also need to be considered
Potential risk on cyber-attacks, leading to privacy and security issues
In a case that happened in the U.S., an EHR database fell victim to a ransomware attack and it was reported that the attack locked doctors out of the hospital’s EHRs. The breach, in turn, may have exposed patient names and personal details, such as their address and medical history
Drawback of the proposed system - there are several potential liability issues associated with the implementation
Medical data could get lost or destroyed during the transition from a paper-based system or another system that is currently adopted, to this newly proposed system, which could lead to treatment errors.
Hence, doctors can be held responsible by patients when any treatment errors occur, leading to more legal cases for the industry.
